The Biometric Residence Permit and Your Passport

Since mid-2015 it has been a requirement of the Home Office that non-EEA nationals entering the UK to reside for a period of more than 6 months must apply for a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).

The card must be collected within ten days of arriving in the UK and we highly recommend that you collect your BRP card as soon as you arrive. The short-term visa in your passport expires not long after you have arrived in the country and your BRP card is required as a proof of right to work document. You are also unable to travel without it once you have arrived in the UK.

When attending your registration interview with Australasian Recruitment Company you will need to bring with you your current passport and your BRP card as we are required to sight and retain copies of both of these items in order to comply with the law.

If you lose your BRP card please visit this site https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits immediately in order to organise a replacement.

We would also like to stress the importance of keeping your passport secure as we have seen a dramatic rise in the instances of candidates losing their passports. Your passport is the key to your identity, not to mention your essential item to complete all of the amazing trips you plan on taking! Please always ensure you know where your passport is, that it is kept secure and is not used on a night out as proof of ID (alcohol and passports do not mix well!).

Click here for more information about the BRP cards. If you have lost your passport please contact your local embassy immediately.
